How to use

After you install Boinx MiracleSight you can change all its settings in the "Desktop & Screen Saver" pane within the "System Preferences" application. Make sure "ScreenSaver" is selected in the top of the pane. Select "MiracleSight" from the list "Screen Savers" on the left side. Click the button "Options" below the preview. A sheet rolls down. In it you find the tabs "Basic", "Advanced" and "MiracleSight".

In the "Basic" tab you can select what should happen if MiracleSight detects motion in fron of your camera (during ScreenSaver activity). You can choose between spoken text by the Mac Text-to-Speech Synthesizer, playback of a sound file or just nothing. In addition the video image can be un-mirrored, in case you have the camera pointing somewhere else.

As the name suggests, the "Advanced" tabs holds the settings you won't need to change very often. The first slider sets the sensitivity of the motion detection. The further to the right, the less likely the speech/sound effect will occur. If there is constant movement in front of your camera, your Mac would constantly speak or play sound. Use the Pause slider to set a minumum pause between two events. The Video Settings... button brings up a usual panel that helps you adjust all the neat settings of your video camera.

In the "MiracleSight" tab you find further information about MiracleSight, Boinx Software and a link to our Kagi Store. There you are more than welcome to donate some money to support our work.

About Speech

Macintosh Text-to-Speech might not be suitable for all kinds of applications, but it is surely fun to listen to.

You can change the phrase that MircaleSight speaks. Select the "Speak Text" radio button and either choose a phrase from the "Presets" menu or type in some text to be spoken.
Hint: It might be worthwhile to type syntactically wrong text. Sometimes it will sound a lot better than correct text.

Customize the Voice

MiracleSight uses the dafault voice as set in your account preferences. Go to the "Speech" preference pane and select the tab "Default Voice" to customize the voice settings.

Change the Sound

You can change the sound that MircaleSight plays in the MiracleSight Options Menu "Basic". Select "Play Sound" and choose a sound file from your Mac. MiracleSight will play the full lenght of this sound file when detecting motion. Even when you stop the Screensaver e.g. by moving the mouse the sound file will play until it's finished.

Use Garage Band Loops

You can use your GarageBand Loops with MiracleSight. You will find them in /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops.

Use iMovie Effects

You can also choose iMovie Sound Effects to play when motion is detected. They are in the iMovie Package in /Applications/iMovie. Use the right mouse button (or the ctrl key and the left mouse button) to click on the iMovie icon. Choose "Show Package Contents" from the context menu and continue to Resources/Sound Effects.
